Rene Geber - Market Manager
Rene is a born and raised Banffite - a rare breed! Rene is very passionate about his home town and considers himself fortunate to be able to embrace the views of the surrounding Canadian Rocky Mountains. An avid outdoorsman and adventurist, Rene is also passionate about good food and mother nature. In 2011, he decided that the best way of showing his love back to the environment that raised him, was to give the community a place to gather and to provide access to locally grown fresh food, baked goods and genuine locally made arts-and-crafts. The Banff Farmer’s Market was born. The Farmer’s Market is held in Central Park, providing a very convenient location amidst the hustle and bustle of downtown Banff.
Jim - Market Facebook Admin
Jim moved to Banff shortly after graduating from the Multi-Media Program at Fanshawe College in 2000. He wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of Ontario life. After he got a taste of what the area had to offer in both scenic and the opportunities to explore and work he decided to make Banff his permanent home. Jim joined the Banff Farmers Market 6 years ago as a tie dye vendor where he did workshops and you could make your own tie dye to take home. Once quickly realizing that travellers had a hard time completing their tie dye while abroad he decided to evolve to pre dye garments instead. Jim dyes each garment by hand making each shirt unique. You won't find two shirts exactly the same! Over the years his venture has expanded to stickers, printed shirts and you can even custom order shirts for pick up at the following market. Jim has also providing non for profit groups and fundraising events with their garment needs and his donated back over $9,000 to the community. His passion for helping his fellow vendors, the community and the Banff Market lead him into the Market Facebook Admin role in 2017. By helping to promote the market and other fellow vendors online Jim filled a gap in area where Rene felt was lacking at the time. Jim is always willing to help new start up vendors with their market needs. So feel free to ask questions. Check out Jim's company on Defending Awesome.
Raffi - Market Music Co-ordinator
Raffi's own personal passion for playing music and his connections with local musical talent in the Bow Valley made him the right choice as the Market Music Series Co-ordinator. Raffi is a huge promoter of local musicians in the Bow Valley area and he enjoys helping them get the exposure they want throughout local venues (ie. Banff Centre, Nourish, Red Earth Cafe and the Banff Farmers Market). Raffi works hard at organizing all the talent, setup audio equipment at the gazebo stage and sound engineering for the performers.
